Job Description

We have a vacancy for an Assistant Linux Administrator.

Responsibilities:

Assist the Senior Linux Systems Administrator as directed to:

• Monitor infrastructure to ensure constant operation
• Update and patch all infrastructure and applications, keeping abreast of end-of life infra and new vulns
• Diagnose and repair infrastructure outages
• Work with a team of developers to maintain and roll out application versions and patches
• Provide ad hoc support to non-technical users on Windows, sometimes general IT support
• Work as directed by a Senior Systems Administrator, with the IT Manager, to maintain the ISO 27001 compliance

Skills/Experience (* on those skills we can train on)

• Linux Servicer and the CLI (preferably Ubuntu Server)
• Looking after interesting industry webapps
• Basic DNS concepts
• Configuration management (bonus: Puppet) across a diverse virtualised estate (*)
• General DBA/DB manager knowledge, with basic SQL. Postgres and Derby/Java DB knowledge a bonus
• Web server config (bonus: Nginx)
• Applications server knowledge (bonus: Glassfish/Payara/Tomcat) (*)
• Basic cloud services to interface with AWS storage (S3/Glacier)
• General IT knowledge to assist Windows users in using applications when needed
