Steve has BSC, MSc and PhD degrees in Chemistry from the University of Bristol, where he specialized in Colloid and Surface Chemistry. He joined Penman Consulting in July 2019 after spending 30 years with BP. During that time he worked in R&D and plant support roles on polymers and catalyst development in Wales, Scotland and the USA. For the last 17 years of his BP career he worked in regulatory chemistry and product stewardship, including leading substance notifications in many countries. He has many years’ experience in EU REACH, and supported BP’s Refining, Chemicals and Lubricants businesses through the registration phase during 2008-2018. He represented BP in various trade bodies including Concawe (Refiners trade association) and the UK Chemical Industries Association.
Steve is currently working with Penman Consulting clients to obtain new REACH registrations and to maintain their existing registrations, as well as advising on non-EU regulations.
