Laia graduated from the Autonomous University of Barcelona with a degree in Biotechnology in 2015. She was then awarded a Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences (Chemistry, Toxicology and Health) from the University of Copenhagen in 2018. In August 2020 she joined Penman Consulting in the role of Environmental Scientist.
She has experience in environmental toxicology research, determining the mode of action of endocrine disruptors on zebrafish and studying the synergistic effect of pesticides on chironomids (sediment dwelling organisms). She has also experience in environmental risk assessment of pesticide residues in water and sediment samples from Latin American rivers.
Outside of work, Laia enjoys learning languages, hiking, learning about new cultures and volunteering.
