In 2013, Dr Scholz founded the independent SCIPOL CONSULT company, specialising in consulting services around ecology, ecotoxicology, toxicology, and their translation and application in chemical’s legislation and evaluation like REACH, Water Framework Directive, and Classification & Labelling. Development of research strategies are integral part of this. Additional services comprise questions and answers around sustainability.

Dr Scholz is a certified biologist, with some 35 years of work experience in the area of environmental research, 25 years of which he spent within the chemical industry.

Responsible for the toxicological and ecotoxicolgical evaluation of chemicals at Evonik Industries AG (formerly Degussa – Hüls AG)

• Commissioning and evaluation of (eco) toxicological studies
• Implementation of REACH
• Consortia Management
• Responsibility as “Lead Company“ for consortias during REACH registration and later substance evaluation.

In charge of various Brussel based scientific working groups

• Establishment of international research cooperation with partner industry associations in Asia and North America

Chairperson of ECPI ( European Council of Plasticisers & Intermediates)

• ECPI is a sector group of the European Chemicals Industry Association (CEFIC)

President of SETAC® (Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry) 1999 – 2001

• SETAC® – a globally organised, scientific organisation with some 6000 members
